Continuing a Legacy in Real Estate Development
Jimmy Palmer is not just another name in the real estate industry—he represents a tradition of resilience and determination that traces back to his parents, Greek immigrants who embarked on a journey to Fort Collins, Colorado, in the 1970s. Their story began with a humble flower shop, a thriving business that marked the route to their foray into real estate. As the shop prospered, Palmer's father invested in commercial retail and office properties, laying the foundation for what would become a real estate dynasty. When Jimmy and his brother were ready for college, their father had already amassed over 50,000 square feet of property, reinforcing the notion that dreams can indeed take root and flourish.
A Commitment to Growth Through Knowledge
Choosing education over immediate involvement in the family business, both brothers opted for college degrees—Jimmy in business real estate finance and construction management from the University of Denver in 2006. This choice proved pivotal; upon graduation, they returned to Palmer Properties armed with fresh knowledge and ambition. Their early roles involved serving as real estate broker associates at Real Tech Commercial Real Estate, where they expanded their industry networks and expertise. By 2007, they had earned their broker’s licenses, and soon after, established the Northern Colorado branch for Cassidy Turley Real Estate in 2011, which later evolved into Cushman & Wakefield, showcasing their ability to create impactful business ventures.
A Legacy of Remarkable Growth
Under Jimmy's leadership, Palmer Properties experienced substantial growth. His tenure with Cassidy Turley and later Cushman & Wakefield saw the family's property holdings dramatically increase from 50,000 to approximately 925,000 square feet of retail and office space. Today, as the vice president of Palmer Properties, Jimmy continues to foster this growth, with the added distinction of being the largest landowner in Fort Collins. A key feature of his legacy is the successful rehabilitation of the historic Avery Building—a project that intertwines both community pride and preservation efforts. This landmark not only symbolizes Jimmy's commitment but also serves as a reminder of how old and new can coexist harmoniously.
Deep Community Roots: Making a Difference
Beyond his professional achievements, Palmer is deeply tethered to his community. He serves as a board member for The Family Center/La Familia and the South Fort Collins Business Association. His involvement goes beyond mere membership; he actively participates in initiatives that benefit local businesses and residents, demonstrating how community engagement forms an integral part of his family's legacy. His support for organizations like Respite Care showcases a commitment to lifting those in need within Fort Collins, drawing a direct link between successful real estate ventures and positive societal impact.
Vision for the Future: Building Relationships
Looking forward, Palmer’s goals remain both ambitious and grounded. Over the next five to ten years, he envisions not just growth in Palmer Properties but also the cultivation of strong business relationships. His approach underscores the importance of collaboration, ensuring that all partnerships add value to the community he cherishes. Personally, Palmer also aims to focus on family and maintain a balance between his professional and personal life. As he looks to the future, he stands confident in his ability to navigate unknown challenges, reinforcing the commitment that has driven his family’s success for generations.
