Originally meeting at Third and Wilcox Streets before moving to its current location on South Street in the 1970s, the church has evolved as the town grew around it. Laryce Nitsch, a member since 1971, has diligently preserved the church's history in a specially compiled booklet that tells the stories behind the faith community's legacy. "That’s our roots, and we need to appreciate that and build on that," she shared, emphasizing the importance of understanding their origins for future growth.

Over the years, the First United Methodist Church has established itself as a beacon of hope and service in Castle Rock. Members have played pivotal roles in founding various community initiatives, including the Douglas-Elbert County Task Force, the Castle Rock Senior Center, and crisis support centers for women. Today, the church actively participates in local outreach efforts through food drives, a backpack ministry for the formerly incarcerated, and blanket donations for the homeless. "We’re busy in our community as well as in our church family," noted Nitsch, reflecting the ongoing commitment to serving those in need.

Grace George, a member from 2000 to 2010, humorously observed, "All the faces and all the hair have gotten much older! Fifteen years makes a great difference."
